Producer: This small winery is run by Eugenio Gatti, 7th generation viticulturist, dedicated to cultivating the native varieties of Asti. The winery is converted from the original 11th century Castle-Armory of Castagnole di Monferrato.
Place: La Miraja ‘me-rye-uh’, is located in the commune of Castagnole di Monferrato - the epicenter & birthplace of Ruche - in the province of Asti, in the Piemonte region of northwest Italy.
Farming: Organic
Varietal: Ruché - 40% of the grapes coming from the fabled & oldest known vineyard for Ruché ‘Majole’ planted in 1975, 60% from Santa Eufemia planted in the 90’s
Soil: Calcareous red clay soils.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested, destemmed, maceration for 10 days, native yeast fermentation, rested in cement for 3 months & 4 months in bottle before release.
