Producer: coming from an agricultural family, Andrea Cortonesi purchased an old manor house in 1986, Built a farm dedicated to viticulture. He also produces grappa + olive oil.

Place:  Uccelliera: ‘Aviary’ is the name of the homestead on the hillslope of Castelnuovo Dell’Abate overlooking the ancient Volcano of Mount Amiata, Southern Tuscany.

Soil: sandy loam with crumbled fossils

Varietal: all Sangiovese from younger Brunello Vineyards

Farming: sustainable agriculture

Vinification: handpicked, fermentation + maceration  with skins for 20 days in steel tanks , maturation in oak casks & various sized barrels for 10 months, rested in bottle for 5 months before release.

Tasting Notes: ripe red fruit – sweet herbs – licorice
