Producer: A small artisanal winery created by Massimo Marchiori & Antonella Gerosa, former architects from Piedmont that settled in the coastal countryside of Penedes in 2000, becoming farmers & cult winemakers with a recognizable 2 letter label. The couple purchased an old cottage-winery ‘El Maiol’ a property surrounded by a protected forest, almond & olive trees, & began recovering old vines, abandoned vineyards, and making natural wine from local grape varieties. They own 6 hectares planted to vines, and also rent other vineyards. The name Partida Creus, references the crosses used for separating vineyard holding in the old days,
Place: Located in the Massis de Bonastre, in the Baix-Penedes (lower Penedes), vineyards are at 150-200 meters altitude, 5 km from the Mediterranean, Catalunya, on the northeastern coast of Spain.
Cultivation: Practicing organic
Varietal: Trepat, an indigenous grape to northeastern Spain, with compact clusters & thick skin.
Soil: Calcareous clay
Winemaking: Handharvest, destemmed, maceration for 3 days on the skins, native yeast fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aged for 8 months in stainless steel, bottled unfined & unfiltered, rested in bottle 5 months before release.
