2020 Gérard Raphet, Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes, Burgundy, France

Producer: Raphet, making old vine Burgundy (many vines are over 100 years of age) around the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, winemaking ways passed down through 4 generations. Gérard took over from his father Jean in 2002, today Virginie, a trained oenologist, works alongside her father both in the field & in the cellar.

Place: a selection of older vines from ‘Clos des Ormes’ as well as some declassified fruit from ‘Milandes’ premier Cru Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits.

Varietal: Pinot Noir from vines that are 60 years old and over

Soil: limestone & clay

Winemaking: Fermentation with indigenous yeast, aged in old french oak barrels for 18 months, bottled unfined & unfiltered.
