Producer: John Schaffenberger established the winery in 1981, he also established America’s first artisan chocolate manufacturer ‘The ScharffenBerger Chocolate Maker’ in San Francisco. After several shifts in ownership, Scharffenberger Cellars is now under the ownership of Maison Louis Roederer. Jeffrey Jindra has been the winemaker since 2018, producing sparkling wines that reflect the diversity of Mendocino County.

Place: The 120 acre estate is nestled amongst old growth redwoods, located in the heart of Mendocino’s Anderson Valley – North of San Francisco near the Mendocino Coast.

Cultivation: Sustainably farmed & Fish Friendly Farming Certified.

Varietal: 55% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir – from Anderson Valley vineyards + additional fruit sourced from Mendocino growers.

Soil: Gravelly, Sandy Loam

Winemaking: The wine is made in the traditional method  process – ‘wines are individually bottle fermented before being riddled and disgorged’ 12% reserve wine is added, bottles spend a minimum of 24 months on the lees, aged in corked bottles for 6 months.
