Producer: Francisco Asencio cultivates 13 hectares of unique native varieties, some of the oldest vines in Asturias, on very steep slopes. The small estate was founded by Nicolas Marcos in 2011, Francisco took over Dominio del Urogallo in 2017 & has been recognized for his commitment to natural & sustainable wine production.
Place: Located in Cangas de Narcea, in the cool , hilly region of Asturias, North West coast of Spain.
Cultivation: Organic & Biodynamic practices.
Varietal: Albarín Blanco 60% , Albillo 40%
Soil: Slate, anthracite & quartz
Winemaking: Fermented separately in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeast, Albarin is aged in used barrel, Albillo in tank, aging lasts for 2 winters before blending & aging an additional 6 months, bottled unfined & unfiltered.
