Producer: A Historic winery founded in 1854 by a Venetian, Antonio Scarpa. Mario Pesce’s family purchased Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa in 1949 converting the facility, expanding the estate & putting it on the world map. Mario creates a true house style using cellar aging techniques & extended bottle aging before release. Today the Scarpa team, with 70 acres under vine & Carlo Castino as head winemaker, continue to produce wines from indigenous grapes to Piedmont with a respect for the traditions of the house.
Place: The winery is located in Nizza Monferrato in the province of Asti, Piedmont, north west Italy, the site ‘Tettimorra’ is a 1.2 hectare plot near the village of La Morra in the Barolo DOCG.
Cultivation: Organic -much land is dedicated to fields & forests which is left unplanted to maintain biodiversity.

Soil: Tortonian – Marly soil, rich in white clay, these soils result in wines with gentle tannin that may be enjoyed at an earlier stage.
Winemaking: Handharvest, maceration on the skin for 28 days in wooden vat, ages for 36 months in french Alier oak barrels, rests for 6 months in bottle before release.
