Producer: For 4 generations the Viola family has cultivated vines here, Aldo has taken over the family estate in 2000. He started a career as a professional football player,spending time in Denmark, India & the Amazon before committing to winemaking, studying Oenology in Marsala. He works his 7 hectares across 2 sites in Alcamo, without the use of synthetic chemicals, doing everything by hand – a member of ‘Centopassi Cooperative’ a collective that reclaims land confiscated from the Corleonesi mafia.
Place: Based in Alcamo, north coast Sicily.
Cultivation: Organic, biodynamic practices
Varietal: Nerello Mascalese 50%, Perricone 40%, Syrah From ancient bush vines 10%
Soil: Clay, Limestone, Rocks
Winemaking: The grapes are fermented separately with native yeast, long maceration, especially for the Syrah, 50% aged in stainless steel, 50% wooden barrel for 6 months.
