2022 Lucy M, Chardonnay ‘Le Petite Piccadilly’, Adelaide Hills, Australia

Producer: Anton Van Klopper, creative, minimal-intervention winemaker, in the Adelaide Hills, south Australia. Born in South Africa, living in Australia since the age of 14, initially working in hospitality management, graduated from the University of Adelaide with a degree in Agricultural science & Oenology. In 2002, along with his wife Sally & daughter Lucy, purchased a 6 hectare cherry orchard & began planting vines, creating the winery.  Cultivation occurs without the use of chemicals, a mix of his own vines & farmers with the same farming methods. He has built a reputation of producing unique, energetic wines with a wild side, with a commitment to human & environmental health.

Place: The winery is located in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills, in South Australia. The grapes for this bottling come from ‘Cemetary Block’ farm run by Jenny + James Griggs in Piccadilly Valley.

Cultivation: Organic & Biodynamic practices, manual harvest, no irrigation.

Varietal: Chardonnay

Soil: Alluvial black sandy soils

Winemaking: Whole bunch, free run juice only, fermented in ceramic eggs, aged on the lees.
